Eastside Corner & Nexus Center
This project was a group assignment with the overall objective to address the community of Flint Michigan’s current challenges regarding the lack of community engagement. As a response, this project fosters meaningful contributions for youth [ages 12-25], infrastructure [neighborhood center], and the existing community [ages 25-50]. With thoughtfully integrated site design, structural design, and water management, this project aspires to create an architecturally beautiful environment that addresses ongoing issues and fosters community belonging. I specialized in landscape design, stormwater management, community involvement, and seamless integration of the built environment with the natural site. Additionally, a secondary emphasis on solar sustainability features well as stormwater management to fully utilize the space to engage the community, visually promote walkability and public transit, and effectively manage rainwater harvesting. This will be accomplished through the use of underground parking, a green roof, and rain garden.
