B Hive

Hidden away from the main campus of Lawrence Tech, lives both the university president's home, in addition to the campus' dedicated alumni house. Nestled between these spaces amidst the trees and insect life lies an opportunity, upon which, we, the Design + Build Studio of 2024, are tasked with proposing a gathering space. This space is to serve as an outdoor seating/dining area able to host parties of 75 members or more while staying conscious of the context, environment, and program. With this combined goal in mind, many teams have joined minds and expertise over the past weeks to further the development of this ambition. The combined efforts of teams B are no different, exploring the use of wood and metal, through the exploration of material tectonics, connection systems, and environmental integrity.
